Baztán (in Basque and officially Baztan) is a valley, university and municipality of the Foral Community of Navarra, located in the area of Pamplona, in the Baztán region and 58 km from the community's capital, Pamplona. Its population in 2017 was 7,736 inhabitants (INE).
El Baztán with an area of 373.55 km² is the largest municipality in Navarra. It is formed by the upper basin of the Bidasoa River, which in this area is called the Baztán River.


The municipality is made up of 15 places (Almandoz, Aniz, Arizkun, Arraioz, Azpilkueta, Berroeta, Ziga, Elizondo, Elbete, Erratzu, Garzain, Irurita, Lekaroz, Oronoz and Amaiur), numerous neighborhoods and scattered hamlets. It is not divided, like most of the Navarrese composite municipalities, into councils, although in each place there is a jury or municipal mayor. In addition to the town hall, the valley also has the General Valley Board, a traditional group responsible for the administration and uses of the communal areas.
